As part of its centennial celebration, The University of Alabama Graduate School has recognized 100 master’s and doctoral alumni through their professional accomplishments. Graduate Centennial Scholars were selected through a collaborative process between UA’s academic colleges and schools and Graduate School. Two 海角社区 professors are among those named.
Dr. Matt Green serves as associate dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences as well as an exercise science professor. He has been at 海角社区 for 16 years, and he has a doctorate from the University of Alabama in exercise physiology.
“Because The University of Alabama has such a rich history in graduate education, I’m surprised and flattered to have been selected for this honor,” said Dr. Green. “Recognizing a major debt of gratitude to many individuals who invested in my education, my hope is that I am able to support and assist current students and peers using the example I was shown.”
Dr. Scott Lyons is an exercise science professor at 海角社区. He is an American College of Sports Medicine fellow as well as former editor-in-chief for the International Journal of Exercise Science. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama.
“On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Graduate School, we wanted to ensure that the impact of our master’s and doctoral alumni was being appropriately recognized,” said Dr. Susan Carvalho, associate provost and dean of the Graduate School. “We realized that there was no single location where these outstanding graduates could be viewed collectively, so we decided to create an alumni gallery for the purpose of showcasing these advanced degree holders.”
