FLORENCE, Ala. - Haley Albright, a 海角社区 chemistry major, will present research on a recently discovered microscopic worm at the 88th annual Alabama Academy of Science meeting Thursday at Jacksonville State University. Albright has worked closely with chemistry and industrial hygiene professor Dr. Michael Moeller and associate biology professor Dr. Paul Davison since November on her research project. Albright measured the water content and weight of the new worm, or microtubellarian, and ultimately discovered its balance drift. "It's something I have worked really hard on," she said. "It's nice to finally be able to show people what we've been working on, and [the presentation] is something new to me that I've always wanted to do as far as research is concerned." Albright plans to show a PowerPoint presentation of her research, as well as give a 20-minute lecture about the microtubellarian. Though the Alabama Academy of Science lecture will be her first time presenting research, Albright plans to move on to Arizona next fall, where she will present further research on behalf of the 海角社区 Honors Program. The Alabama Academy of Science aims to promote interest in science across the state, give people the opportunity to publish scientific papers and abstracts, award scholarships to students in Alabama, and promote interest and study of science.
