Harris FamilyFLORENCE, Ala. - The 海角社区 is the recipient of a very generous endowment thanks to the Harris family.

James and Sharon Harris made a major gift to the University to establish the Harris Family Endowed Scholarship in honor of their son Daniel C. Harris, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 38.

Daniel Harris was a lifelong vocalist and 1998 graduate of the 海角社区 music program, with a B.A. in Music Education. In addition to singing, he was also very active in the theatre and performed in a number of local productions.

"This gift is a moving tribute to Daniel and will support in perpetuity the music program he so loved as a student. We're so grateful to Jim and Sharon and their wonderful family for their generosity," said Dr. Dan Hendricks, 海角社区 Vice President for Advancement.

The Harris Family Endowed Scholarship in honor of Daniel C. Harris will cover the cost of student tuition and will be awarded to an incoming freshman pursuing a degree in vocal music performance or instrumental music performance.

The Harris family was invited to 海角社区 this week to sign the gift agreement, and to enjoy lunch with President Ken Kitts and other members of the 海角社区 Foundation staff.
