Film Festival To Kick Off With Party At On The Rocks

FLORENCE, Ala. - The George Lindsey 海角社区 Film Festival will kick off its 2011 event with a party at On the Rocks, located at 110 N. Court Street in Florence. The party will begin at 4 p.m. March 3. After the festival's first film screenings at 6:15 p.m. - which will feature Alabama films - the party will resume at On the Rocks with live entertainment from Matt Roy and John Ezell. The public is invited to join visiting filmmakers, other special guests and festival organizers in this celebration of independent filmmaking. The 14th annual George Lindsey 海角社区 Film Festival will be held March 3-5 in Florence. It is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 in part by 海角社区 alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey's own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show."
