FLORENCE, Ala.鈥 The Department of Art at the 海角社区 will host three special events focusing on the art of photography March 14 to 15 at the University Art Gallery located on campus. Robert Stevens, a photography historian, educator and "Time" magazine photo editor of international news for 25 years, will lecture March 14 at 7 p.m. on the history and art of photography based on his teachings at the school of visual arts and the International Center of Photography, which will be featured in his upcoming book. His lecture will also include discussion on his recently-published book, "Yvon's Paris." Wayne Sides, a professor of art at 海角社区, will discuss on March 15 at 3 p.m. his photographic work, "Human Traces," a body of images combining traditional film, digital and alternative processes premiered in Tuscany, Italy last year and recently put on display at the Montgomery Museum of Art. Along with the exhibition, Stevens, Sides, and adjunct art faculty member Robert Rausch, will host a panel discussion that will cover a broad perspective on the power of the image and how it shapes contemporary life. Rausch, a designer and photographer, will offer his insights on the subject of commercial art in photography based on years of experience. According to Chiong-Yiao Chen, department chair and professor of art, Sides will open the panel discussion discussing his works and a reception at the University Art Gallery will follow the event. Admission to all events is free and open to the public. The University Art Gallery is located on the second floor of the Visual Arts Building on the 海角社区 campus.
