FLORENCE, Ala. - Chris Corley, a 海角社区 senior, was recently notified that a computer science paper he co-authored with University of Alabama faculty member Dr. Nicholas Kraft was accepted by an international workshop. Corley participated in two eight-week NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates Sites in fall 2009 and again in summer 2010 with Kraft at The University of Alabama. The experience gave Corley the opportunity to conduct research and to be mentored by professionals working in the field. The paper, which focuses on the domain of software engineering and the methodology Corley and Kraft developed to find traceability links, was accepted by the 6th International Workshop on Traceability in Emerging Forms of Software Engineering last week. Corley will present the paper May 23 in Waikiki, Hawaii, at the 33rd annual International Conference on Software Engineering. "Doing an REU and research helped me tremendously in getting into graduate school and increased my chances to receive funding," Corley said. "This is pretty exciting because it's rare form for an undergrad to have a paper published with myself as one of the primary authors." Corley, a computer science major who currently acts as president of the 海角社区 Association of Computing Machinery, will graduate in May and begin working toward a Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on software engineering and maintenance at The University of Alabama in June. The May 21-28 ICSE is a national software engineering conference, where researchers, practitioners and educators from across the country gather to discuss software engineering.
