Lucky Dip

What started as a prank has become a popular campus tradition. In the summer of 2013, the SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration) counselors told their freshman students that if they dipped a pencil in the Harrison Fountain on the first day of class, they would have good luck the entire semester. On that humid August day, the counselors gathered at the fountain to see if anyone would show up. They were amazed at the number of students who did. When the Student Government Association (SGA) got wind of it, they decided to make it an annual event. This past August, SGA gave out over 1,000 pencils to students eager to ensure their luck!
