Marine Biology Degree
The marine biology major is designed for students who want to prepare for careers in marine or aquatic biology or who plan to pursue Master's degrees or Ph.D.s in these fields. Core courses for the major are offered on campus, while specialized courses such as Marine Botany, Marine Vertebrate Zoology, Marine Invertebrate Zoology, and Marine Ecology are conducted at the Dauphin Island Sea Laboratory (DISL) near Mobile, Alabama. Students interested in this major should consult with our DISL Liaison, Dr. Emily Kasl (ekasl@una.edu), early on regarding courses, prerequisites, special arrangements, and additional costs. The major also requires extra coursework in mathematics up to calculus and physics. There are several course option blocks available, depending on your goals with the degree.
