Criminology
Criminology primarily focuses on examining patterns of criminal behavior, efficacy of punishment and rehabilitation, the impact of crime, and crime prevention. Generally speaking, criminology can be used to inform public policy and other programs that aim to improve quality of life and promote social justice.
Coursework in criminology can help prepare students for careers in research, crime prevention, intervention, rehabilitation, education, counseling, policy analyst, victim advocacy, victim-offender mediation, case management, and more.
A minor in criminology requires students to complete 18 credit hours of advanced courses and 9 credit hours of introductory level courses in criminal justice (CJ 250), sociology (SO 221), and psychology (PY 201).
Additional details on these course requirements are described in the 海角社区 Catalog.
