海角社区Rec Policies


General Policies of the Student Recreation Center

  • To utilize 海角社区Rec, a valid 海角社区 MANE card is required.
  • Currently enrolled students at the 海角社区 are considered members of 海角社区Rec.
  • A valid 海角社区 MANE Card is required for admittance into the facilities housed within 海角社区Rec.
  • The use of or allowing the use of a MANE Card to someone other than the person to whom it was issued is prohibited and will result in immediate suspension of privileges of 海角社区Rec. In the case of student members, the case will be referred to the Student Conduct.
  • It is highly recommended that you consult a physician before beginning an exercise program.
  • Proper athletic clothing is encouraged to be worn while participating.
  • All pants and shorts must be worn at the natural waistline at all times.
  • Shirts or tank tops must be worn at all times by all users.
  • No food, chewing gum or candy of any kind is allowed in the SRC or OAC.
  • Drink bottles are allowed in the SRC and SRC however, they must have a closeable top.
  • Photographic devices are prohibited in all locker rooms and restrooms.
  • Photographic devices are prohibited in the Fitness Center and Aerobic Studio without prior approval.
  • 海角社区Rec is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items.

Failure to abide by the policies below may result in loss of membership to 海角社区Rec.

    • Failure to produce a 海角社区 MANE Card upon request by any staff member of  海角社区Rec.
    • Failure to promptly and properly exit any facility managed/operated by the 海角社区Rec upon request by any staff member of 海角社区Rec.
    • Misuse of any equipment or furnishings located within or adjacent to any facility managed/operated by the 海角社区Rec.
    • Assisting entrance to the Student Recreation Center to someone through an Exit.
    • Spitting on any walls, floors, stairs or in any of the water fountains located within or adjacent to the Student Recreation Center or Outdoor Adventure Center.


Intramural and Club Sports Program Facility Polices

  • To utilize facilities where intramural and club sports activities are conducted, a valid membership is required.
  • Currently enrolled students at the 海角社区 are eligible to utilize such facilities if the Recreation Facility Fee has been paid in full.
  • A valid 海角社区 MANE Card or a valid Membership Card issued by the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program is required for admittance into such facilities.
  • The use of or allowing the use of a MANE Card or Membership Card to someone other than the person to whom it was issued is prohibited and will result in immediate suspension of privileges to the Student Recreation Center and programs/activities offered through the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program. In the case of student members, the case will be referred to the Student Judicial System.
  • It is highly recommended that you consult a Physician before participating in any intramural or club sport.
  • Proper athletic clothing must be worn while participating – jeans, cargo pants, etc. are prohibited.
  • All pants and shorts must be worn at the natural waistline at all times.
  • Shirts or tank tops must be worn at all times by all users.
  • No food, chewing gum or candy of any kind is allowed in the facilities where intramural and club sports activities are conducted.
  • Use of electronic communication devices is allowed, unless otherwise stated; however, users are responsible for being aware of all activity around them while utilizing such devices. Additionally, all electronic communication devices must be on silence mode as a courtesy to other patrons.
  • The Recreational Sports and Fitness Program is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items.

Failure to abide by the policies below may result in loss of use of facilities.

  • Failure to produce a 海角社区 MANE Card or government issued identification card upon request by any staff member of the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program.
  • Failure to promptly and properly exit any facility managed/operated by the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program upon request by any staff member of the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program.
  • Misuse of any equipment or furnishings located within or adjacent to any facility managed/operated by the Recreational Sports and Fitness Program.

Fitness Center Polices

  • It is mandatory that each person wipe off equipment after use with provided spray and wiping papertowel.
  • Personal workout towels are not provided, however, you may bring your own.
  • Photographic devices are prohibited in the Fitness Center without prior approval.
  • Proper athletic clothing is encouraged
  • All pants and shorts must be worn at the natural waistline at all times.
  • Shirts or tank tops must be worn at all times by all users.
  • Only athletic shoes with closed toes and closed heels are allowed.
  • No food, chewing gum or candy of any kind is allowed.
  • Drink bottles must have a closeable top.

Failure to abide by the policies below may result in loss of membership to the Student Recreation Center.

  • Continually failing to return weights and all other accessories to their proper locations.
  • Continually making loud sounds (banging weights, yelling, dropping dumbbells).
  • Misuse of equipment.
  • Assisting entrance to the Fitness Center to someone through an  Exit.
  • Spitting on the walls, floors or on equipment in the Fitness Center.

Weight Training Policies

  • Proper athletic clothing is encouraged.
  • All pants and shorts must be worn at the natural waistline at all times.
  • Shirts or tank tops must be worn at all times by all users.
  • Only athletic shoes with closed toes and closed heels are allowed.
  • It is mandatory to return weights and all other accessories to their proper locations.
  • Clips on weight bars are mandatory at all times.
  • Use of safety cut off clips on treadmills is highly recommended.
  • It is highly recommended that you consult a physician before beginning an exercise program.
  • Ask for assistance if you do not know how to use any of the equipment.
  • Work out at your own fitness level. Always use a spotter when attempting to lift maximum weight.
  • Be patient when waiting for equipment, and be efficient when using equipment while others are waiting.
  • Ask if you may ―work in and always let others work in. When working in with someone, return the seat and weight to the last user‘s set up.
  • Be aware of others around you. Do not stand in front of weight rack while lifting, you may be blocking others from getting to the weights.
  • Avoid making loud sounds (banging weights, yelling, dropping dumbbells).
  • Do not sit on machines when you are between sets.
  • Misuse of equipment may result in immediate expulsion from Fitness Center.

Gymnasium Policies

  • Use of electronic communication devices is allowed inside the gymnasium; however, users are responsible for being aware of all activity around them while utilizing such devices. Additionally, all electronic communication devices must be on silence mode as a courtesy to other patrons.
  • Photographic devices are prohibited in the locker rooms and restrooms.
  • Appropriate athletic shoes must be worn while using the gymnasium floor. Boots, sandals, socks only, bare feet, hard-soled shoes, open-toed or open heeled shoes and spiked heels are prohibited. Black-soled and red-soled shoes are prohibited unless they are non-marking. 

    Note: The above also applies to Open Recreation activities such as Darts, Baggo, Badminton, Table Tennis and use of the Heavy Bag since the activity is occurring on the gym floor and may damage the area.

  • Gym bags, book bags or personal belongings are not allowed on the inner lane of the walking/jogging track around the gym perimeter or on the ledges of the windows. These items must be kept against the wall or on the provided benches.
  • Patrons are allowed to sit or stand on the outer lane of the walking/jogging track around the gymnasium perimeter, but please be courteous of others that may be using the track. If the track is being used, please sit or stand between the playing courts.
  • No food, chewing gum or candy of any kind is allowed.
  • Water is the only drink allowed and the bottle must have a closeable top.

Failure to abide by the policies below may result in loss of membership to the Student Recreation Center.

  • Hanging on the rim or pulling oneself up by the net.
  • Misuse of equipment.
  • Leaving the gymnasium through an Emergency Exit in a non-emergency.
  • Assisting entrance to the gymnasium to someone through an Emergency Exit.
  • Spitting on the walls or floors or in the water fountains of the gymnasium.

Aerobic Studio Policies

  • Use of electronic communication devices is allowed inside the aerobic studio; however, users are responsible for being aware of all activity around them while utilizing such devices. Additionally, all electronic communication devices must be on silence mode as a courtesy to other patrons.
  • Photographic devices are prohibited in the aerobic studio restrooms.
  • Photographic devices are prohibited in the aerobic studio without prior approval.
  • It is suggested that proper athletic clothing be worn while participating.
  • All pants and shorts must be worn at the natural waistline at all times.
  • Shirts or tank tops must be worn at all times by all users.
  • No food, chewing gum or candy of any kind is allowed.
  • Drink bottles must have a closeable top.

Failure to abide by the policies below may result in loss of membership to the Student Recreation Center.

  • Misuse of equipment.
  • Assisting entrance to the Aerobic Studio to someone through an Exit.
  • Spitting on the walls or floors or in the water fountains of the aerobic studio.

Personal Training Policies

Our services may include the following:

Fitness Equipment Orientation:

Our Personal Trainers will explain the layout of the current weight room as well as proper set-up and use of all strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility equipment.

Personal Consultation:

The Personal Trainer assigned to you will assess your current workout program, help you with developing personal fitness goals, and develop an individualized fitness program that will help you accomplish your goals.

Nutrition Consultation:

Glenda Richey will assess your dietary habits and include goal setting for your personal needs. A follow up session to keep you on track and help set new goals as you progress in your new dietary lifestyle is also available.

Policy Statement regarding Personal Training

Only individuals employed as Personal Trainers through 海角社区Rec are allowed to perform any type of personal training/instruction (one on one, partners, small group, etc) within the Student Recreation Center.

海角社区Rec understands the importance and benefits of working out with friends or having a workout partner. However, instruction provided that is or may be perceived as personal training is not allowed. Corrective action to prevent this from occurring via a verbal or written warning may be instituted, but 海角社区Rec reserves the right to remove any patron/s in violation of this policy. This will extend to the individual that is perceived as providing training as well as any apparent clients and may ultimately result in loss of facility privileges.

This policy is designed to protect the health and well-being of our patrons and to insure that any personal fitness instruction under the direction of 海角社区Rec is from qualified individuals.

Outdoor Adventure Center Rental Policies

  • Equipment is available to check out at no charge for current students and staff/faculty members part of the Roar for Wellness Rewards Program.
  • Equipment may be reserved up to 2 weeks in advance or checked out on the spot at the OAC.
  • MOST reservations are limited to 4 days unless given prior permission for extended rental. Kayaks and paddleboards are the exception, as they are 1-day rentals only, unless given prior permission for extended rental.
  • Equipment must be returned to the OAC by closing time on the 4th day. Renters will be charged a late fee of $5 a day per each day the items are overdue.
  • The individual who is listed as renting the equipment is responsible for damages, losses, late fees, etc. even if multiple people have used the equipment.
  • Failure to pay damage, replacement, or cleaning fees upon return or due date can result in suspension from 海角社区Rec activities, the SRC, OAC checkouts, and OAC events, as well as a hold will be placed on the renter's students account.
  • Cleaning Fees are assessed to equipment items that are considered dirty beyond normal usage. A cleaning fee of $10 is assessed per item that is dirty. Tent Check out and Returns: Customers are required to set up tents for inspection upon return, this is non-negotiable.
