Academic Warning
Students who meet the following criteria will be placed on Academic Warning:- Any undergraduate student who has attempted fewer than 18 hours at 海角社区 with a 海角社区 Institutional GPA less than 2.00 will be placed on Academic Warning.
- Any undergraduate student who has attempted more than 18 hours at 海角社区 whose term GPA falls below 2.00 but has a minimum institutional GPA of 2.00 or above will be placed on Academic Warning.
Academic Probation
Any undergraduate student who has attempted more than 18 hours at 海角社区 will be placed on Academic Probation at the end of any semester in which the student’s 海角社区 institutional GPA falls below 2.00. Probationary status may be removed by achieving a minimum 海角社区 institutional GPA of 2.00 or above. If a student on probation achieves a term GPA of 2.00 or higher but remains below the minimum 海角社区 institutional GPA of 2.00, probation is continued.
Academic Suspension 1
A student on Academic Probation is placed on Academic Suspension for one semester at the end of any semester or term in which the student fails to maintain a 2.0 GPA on the work attempted during that period. A suspension will last for one fall or spring semester (summer term does not fulfill suspension). Students may not appeal first-time suspensions to the Readmissions Committee. Instead, students suspended for one semester have the option to request active suspension.
After the semester of suspension, the student may re-enroll. To do so, contact the Office of Admissions or visit the 海角社区 Admissions website. Upon return, Academic Probation continues until the appropriate minimum institutional GPA of 2.0 is obtained. If a student fails to obtain a semester GPA of 2.0, the student is placed on Suspension 2.
Academic Suspension 2
A student who fails to obtain a semester 2.0 GPA after returning from Suspension-1 will be suspended for one calendar year. A student on Suspension 2 may appeal their academic status before the Readmissions Committee. The student must provide evidence of extenuating circumstances that led to academic difficulties. Click here to file an appeal. If the appeal is successful, a student will be placed on Academic Probation and must earn a semester GPA of at least a 2.0 GPA to remain enrolled. Academic probation continues until the appropriate minimum institutional GPA of 2.0 is obtained. If a student fails to obtain a semester 2.0 GPA, the student will be placed on Suspension 3.
Academic Suspension 3
A student who fails to obtain a semester 2.0 GPA after returning from Suspension 2 will be suspended for three calendar years. A student on a three-year suspension is automatically eligible to re-enroll without an appearance before the Readmissions Committee. The returning student must, however, complete a readmissions form available from the Office of Admissions or the 海角社区 website. Upon return, Academic Probation continues until the appropriate minimum institutional GPA of 2.0 is obtained.
A student on a three-year suspension may not appeal the suspension for the first calendar year of the suspension. After the first calendar year, a student who can provide evidence of extenuating circumstances that led to academic difficulties may file a written academic appeal and appear before the Readmissions Committee.
